·         Connect the female connector of console cable to the serial port on the workstation

·         Connect the other end of this console cable to  the  HP 5000 Series switch console port

·         Launch Hyper Terminal application

·         Define a new connection

·         Select appropriate communication port using CONNECT USING option

·         Click OK

·         Now a port setting bar will open that allow you to enter data rate and communication setting

·         Now you are at TERMINAL WINDOW, Click OK

·         Phone Icon will be showing in the top icon menu with headset in the downward position

·         If lifted headset is shown, this means disconnection

·         This ratifies the application is connecting through console cable

·         Now press ENTER KEY many times until a menu appears

·         Now you can proceed with configuring HP 5000 Series Switch as needed
